News Article

"Hanshin Tigers outfielder Tomoaki Kanemoto became the highest-paid player in Japanese baseball on Thursday when he signed a 550-million-yen a season, three-year contract with the popular Kansai team.

Kanemoto, 38, admitted that the Tigers offered him a higher salary for the 2007 season, but he told officials that he wanted the club to spend the money on his teammates."

Can you imagine Bonds doing that? I can't remember any player in the US doing this. Some have taken lower salaries to stay on a certain team, but never heard of them saying "Wow, that's nice, but go ahead an take a little off for the other guys". Cool isn't it?

By the way, his salary is less than $5 million in US dollars. Bum pitchers with ERAs over 5.00 are getting $7 million to play MLB in America these days.
